Disruptive Technologies Explained
A disruptive technology is any form of innovation that causes a significant impact in the value structure of a particular market or industry (Christensesn, n.d.). The impact of a disruptive technology may also create a new market out of an existing one by operating at a higher capacity; such as by employing more advanced means of production, marketing, commerce, etc. Disruptive technologies today often come in the form of the digitization of a specific industry. Digitization can be described as disruptive because of its ability to render physical and manual operations obsolete or less effective.
